How Ghost Enterprises Rebuilt a Charity Website to Combat Cyber Threats

Objective

The charity’s website had become stagnant due to not being regularly updated and audited. Eventually, it was unable to update with the latest security fixes, leaving it vulnerable to attacks and cyber threats.

Overview

Unfortunately, by the time Ghost Enterprises got involved, hackers had already penetrated the site by taking advantage of vulnerabilities in the outdated website and had managed to redirect users to spoof sites, creating a major cybersecurity issue. After reviewing the site and seeing the extent of work that needed to be carried out to ensure that the site was fully protected, the team at Ghost ultimately decided that the safest option was to completely rebuild the site.

To facilitate the rapid rebuilding of the site, the Ghost team held 30-minute meetings with the client every day throughout the project to ensure all information was captured and pages were created according to the brief. This approach helped keep the project on track. In total, Ghost Enterprises rebuilt all 100+ pages of the site in 4 weeks.

Summary

Statistically, UK Charities are one of the sectors most targeted by cyber criminals. Therefore, it’s advised that charities take additional steps to prevent cybercriminals. By engaging with Ghost Enterprises, the charity now has a secure site with added security. For added assurance, they have also signed up to our proactive monitoring and scanning service.
